Deep Oscillation Therapy

A gentle, evidence based treatment to reduce swelling, pain and tissue congestion and support recovery

What is Deep Oscillation Therapy?

Deep Oscillation Therapy is a gentle, non invasive treatment that uses an electrostatic field to create oscillations within the tissue. Unlike surface level massage, it works through the skin and into deeper layers of connective tissue, muscle, and the blood and lymphatic vessels.

It is designed to support lymphatic flow, reduce inflammation and ease tissue congestion, and is often used when the body needs a softer approach such as post surgery, during swelling, or when pain levels are high. It does not replace manual therapy but enhances it, helping treatments work more effectively and comfortably.

Benefits

  • Reduced swelling and tissue congestion

  • Improved comfort and reduced pain

  • Better movement and mobility

  • Faster recovery following injury or surgery

  • Less tissue sensitivity during hands on work

Who is it for?

  • Post surgical recovery

Used to support healing after surgery by reducing swelling, easing tissue congestion and helping the body tolerate treatment earlier in the recovery process.

  • Swelling & Oedema

Supports lymphatic flow and helps reduce fluid build up when tissues feel heavy, tight or uncomfortable.

  • Chronic pain conditions

Often used where pain sensitivity is high, including conditions such as fibromyalgia, to allow treatment without aggravation.

  • Sports injuries

Used to support recovery from training or impact related injuries by reducing tissue congestion and discomfort.

  • Scar tissue and fibrosis

Can help soften and improve tolerance of restricted or thickened tissue, particularly when direct pressure is not yet appropriate.

  • Acute inflammation

Suitable in early stages of injury or irritation when the area needs support without forceful manual work.

How I use Deep Oscillation in practice

Depending on what you are being treated for, I may combine Deep Oscillation with:

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

For lymphatic conditions, swelling, post surgical recovery, lymphoedema or lipoedema. Deep Oscillation helps stimulate lymphatic flow through the tissues, while MLD provides precise, directional drainage and regulation of the lymphatic system.

Myofascial Release

For pain, stiffness, restriction or chronic musculoskeletal issues. Deep Oscillation helps soften tissue, reduce guarding and improve circulation, allowing MFR to be more comfortable and more effective.

For lymphatic conditions, swelling, post surgical recovery, lymphoedema or lipoedema. Deep Oscillation helps stimulate lymphatic flow through the tissues, while MLD provides precise, directional drainage and regulation of the lymphatic system.

FAQs

  • This depends on what you are being treated for and how your body responds. In general, sessions that are closer together and more frequent at the start tend to work best, particularly for swelling, pain or post surgical recovery.

That said, treatment always needs to make sense for your budget and your capacity. We’ll agree an approach that balances effectiveness with what’s realistic for you, adjusting as symptoms change.

  • Most people notice a very slight fuzzy or humming sensation while the treatment is being applied. It is gentle and comfortable, with no forceful pressure. Once the application stops, the sensation stops too.

  • No. Deep Oscillation is designed to support and enhance manual therapies such as MFR and MLD, not replace them. Used together, they often produce better and longer lasting results.

  • Yes. This is one of the key reasons it is used. It allows treatment to begin when traditional hands on work may feel too intense.

  • The electrostatic field is created by completing a circuit between the device, you and me. This allows the tissue to gently lift and release internally, creating oscillation without surface pressure.
